A. Start by reviewing the Concealed Pistol License Renewal information found on the Michigan State Police website.
You’ll note renewing requires “at least three hours of review of the required training” in the six months prior to applying for renewal. This does NOT mean you need a certified training course. If you’d prefer, you can review through self-study.
To be compliant Michigan law you need at least three hours of pistol safety review that complies with Michigan law. Listed below are several resource that would be helpful to you.

Familiarize yourself with what MCRGO has posted on their website detailing firearms and carrying firearms for your personal protection.
Familiarize yourself with the ASP website and their information on firearms and carrying firearms for your personal protection. Click the “Lessons” tab to watch videos detailing civilians who used deadly force and read the comments detailing what they did right and wrong. Follow ASP on Facebook for new postings or check out their lessons on YouTube.
Click on Concealed Pistol Information in the Featured Links section. Familiarize yourself with what the MSP has posted on their website related to firearms and carrying firearms for your personal protection.
National Rifle Association (NRA)
Familiarize yourself with what the NRA has posted on their website detailing firearms and
carrying firearms for your personal protection.
Sit in on a Secure Solution CPL class.
If you’d prefer to sit in on a current CPL class for the three-hour lecture on pistol safety and the laws detailing pistol safety to comply with Michigan law, please contact me. It is FREE for all my previous Secure Solution CPL Class participants. If you’ve never been trained by me, the cost is $50.
